Support for Windows 10 will end in October 2025

After October 14, 2025, Microsoft will no longer provide free software updates from Windows Update, technical assistance, or security fixes for Windows 10. 

Bellarine Secondary College provide the following advice to all Students, and Staff who are currently using Windows 10 (Students that have purchased laptops this year OR whos devices have recently being reimaged, will already have Windows 11)  Please note: WE DO NOT reccomend any other methods than Windows Update or the below, doing so may remove your computer from all BSC network settings, resulting in the need to WIPE/RE IMAGE your device. 

It is suggested that Staff/Students perform the following over the Term 2/3 Holidays. 

• Go to the Microsoft official website to download Windows 11 Installation Assistant. After the file downloads, you can run it and follow the on-screen steps to install it.

  

• Run the installation assistant by right clicking on the file and selecting “run as administrator”  then click “Accept and Install” to begin the process.

  

• Now, leave the tool running while it downloads your Windows 11 files. Once the download is complete, you will need to click “Restart Now” to begin the installation process. From here, the assistant will take care of everything, and you do not need to do anything manually.

  

• Note: This process takes a long time. We are asking that Students put aside some time over the Term 2 and 3 Holidays to undertake this process. By doing so this will remove the risk of students being unable to use their computer in class time when needed while the update applies.
