BSC BASKETBALL PROGRAM

Developing students on the court and in the classroom

The BSC Basketball Program is a specialist program for students who are passionate about basketball and demonstrate strong learning behaviours. The program supports student engagement and development, helping students reach their basketball potential while remaining actively involved in school life.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

  • One class per year level (Years 7–9)
  • Maximum 25 students per class
  • 5 periods per week
  • One period taken from:
    Art, HAPE, Technology and 2 periods from Learning for Life
  • Opportunity to accelerate VCE Sport & Recreation (Years 10–11)
  • Program designed and delivered by a qualified basketball coach and experienced teacher
  • Access to elite guest coaches
  • Links to representative basketball programs

LEARNING & EXPECTATIONS

Students must demonstrate positive learning behaviours across all subjects to remain in the program. These are reported each term and include:

  • Respect for others and the environment
  • Strong work ethic
  • Being ready to learn
  • A positive approach to learning
  • Willingness to embrace feedback

These behaviours:

  • Support academic success
  • Mirror expectations of representative basketball programs
  • Are celebrated each term through a learning behaviour reward
    (excursion or incursion)

 

APPLICATION PROCESS

  • On-court tryouts: Information will be emailed to applicants in term 3.

UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS

  • BSC Basketball Program (BP) basketball shorts
  • BSC BP reversible singlet
  • BSC BP polo shirt
